COVID Marshal

22 Aug 2020 by SA Church Stars Basketball Club

Dear Stars Members,

Basketball SA have advised Clubs that as per changes in legislation, from August 21 COVID Marshal’s will be required at all sporting activities.

A COVID Marshal must:
Have completed the online COVID Marshal training
-Be 18 years old or over
-Be easily identifiable (eg. safety vest with COVID Marshal on it, lanyard with bright ID)
-Be present and on duty at all times the activity is operating
-Take reasonable action to ensure compliance with COVID-Safe plans

The online training will cover the duties of a COVID Marshal which are very similar to the Bio-Safety Officers that were already in place. All our Coaches and Managers have a copy of our COVID Safe Plan.

A COVID Marshal will be supplied by BSA for district competition as required. Clubs are responsible for providing a COVID Marshal in facilities we use for training or other activities where we hire the venue and are the only user on site.

Our current bio safety officers will be completing the Marshal training so we’re covered at each venue from this week. However, we are asking that anyone else who is willing to fill the COVID Marshal role to complete the training and send certificate to sachurchdistrictbc@gmail.com. If others are trained then it will share the load or take the role off other’s hands. Before commencing the role at trainings you will also need to have completed our Club volunteer paperwork and DHS WWCC.

Thank you all for your support as our Club meets its COVID Safe requirements. We know this all takes extra time and energy. Any questions feel free to ask, or anyway our committee can assist let us know.

You can access the COVID Marshal training here – https://marshal.clickontraining.com.au/. Once you have completed, please send the certificate to sachurchdistrictbc@gmail.com.
